How do I set everything up?

So you’ve got your new PC and need a hand getting things set up? No problem, we’ve got you covered. Have a look at our Setup Guide, which guides you through everything from plugging in the cables, to the initial boot-up, to some good tips on getting the most from your system and staying safe online. If you’ve got any other questions or need any extra help, feel free to get in touch and we’ll be happy to help.

My PC won’t display

With new PCs, the vast majority of the time this means that the monitor isn’t connected to the correct port. If you have a graphics card, the motherboard graphics ports will be disabled. Have a look at our setup guide for more info on how to wire up the PC.

If you’re certain the PC is wired up correctly, the next step is to isolate the issue. The next step is to try the PC with a different cable and different screen, if possible. If you’re unable to do this, or if it doesn’t solve the issue, please get in touch, let us know the issue and we’ll do everything possible to help.

Why is my PC crashing and showing a blue screen?

Windows BSOD Error

Windows’ infamous BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) means the PC has hit an error and needs to restart. While the name is a little scary, it’s usually down to something as simple as a corrupt driver or Windows file.

If you’re not experienced with these errors, they can be a little intimidating, so please let us help.

Installing a programme called WhoCrashed will generate a comprehensive report of all previous blue screen errors. If you’re getting bluescreen errors, please install WhoCrashed from this link, install it, click Analyse and send us a copy of the report generated. We’ll be able to analyse the report and advise you further.

“Windows is not genuine” – Where’s my product key?

If you’ve bought a PC with Windows, then it will certainly be genuine, this message just means it’s not yet activated. As the owner of the Windows license, the customer must be the one to activate their copy of Windows. This can be done by following the on-screen prompts using the product key, which is found on a sticker on the right-hand side of your PC case.

Why can’t I connect to the internet?

If you’re attempting to connect to a wired network through an ethernet cable (which we recommend), you may just need to install the Motherboard Drivers from the disc provided, or from the motherboard manufacturer’s website.

If you’re trying to connect to a wireless network, please bear in mind the majority of desktop PCs don’t have built-in wireless capability. If your PC doesn’t this connectivity by default, you’ll need a wireless adapter. If we’ve provided one, you’ll need to plug it into a USB of the back of your PC.
